Steve Garcia Photography bio picture
  • I'm Steve Garcia. Welcome to my blog! I reside in Occoquan, Virginia. I'm a senior manager for a large consulting firm and a photographer in my spare time. I enjoy photographing people and landscapes. Growing up, I've always enjoyed art and music. The arts, no matter how simple or complex, inspires people to dream and gives them a creative outlet to express their vision, creativity, feelings, passion, and hope for the world. Photography is an art; my photos are simply my way of capturing what I find beautiful, unique, cool, interesting and inspirational in this world. I've been so fortunate to capture meaningful moments in my clients' lives and create memorable images that tell their story through my eyes. I hope you enjoy my blog and come back often for updates. Contact me if you would like to book a photo session.

My Niece Emily

Here are some photos of my niece, Emily, taken when she was 2 months old.

A Lighter Touch

Angela is a client of mine who wanted to update her photo portfolio. Here are some of the photos from her session.

Waverly Webster

My dear friend and co-worker Beth and her husband Noah gave me the honor of photographing their precious, beautiful 7 week old daughter Waverly. Waverly is a bundle of joy not to mention a friend of the camera!  Here are some of the photos from Waverly’s session.

Meet Emily!

Photos of my beautiful niece, Emily Kendall Garcia.  Born July 8, 2010 at 4:33 PM, weighing in at 6.1 pounds and 18 inches.

Vision of a Sunset

The first photo was taken recently from my balcony in Alexandria, VA and shows a red sky; the second photo was taken last week and  shows a dark blue sky with a hint of purple. The third and last photos were taken last week, and the sky in both photos is orange.

New Friends

I had the great pleasure of meeting Kristin and Mike last weekend at a friend’s birthday party. These are some candid shots I took of them, which I think came out pretty well. They make a cute couple.

Scenic Virginia

Virginia is a beautiful state! I rarely get to travel outside of the Northern Virginia bubble I call home, but whenever I do I’m reminded of how beautiful the state is when it’s not obstructed by tall buildings, major roads, mini malls, and constant traffic gridlock. I took these photos at a wine vinyard in Bluemont and another one in Veramar.

The First Weekend of Spring

This past Saturday was the first day of Spring!!  After the crazy cold and record breaking snowfall of this winter, spring for us is well-deserved!  The thing I like most about spring is seeing people outdoors having fun, enjoying the weather, cherishing the company of family and friends, and the beauty of Mother Nature. I took these photos today. I hope you enjoy!

Surprise Birthday Party

My family threw a surprise birthday party for my mom this weekend. She had no idea of our plans, and my sister-in-law was able to get her out of the house for a few hours to have a girls’ day out. By the time my mom arrived back home, her closest friends were there to greet her. The cheerful expression and look of surprise on my mom’s face was priceless! There was plenty of food and fun, and everyone had a great time! I’ve included some photos, below, of my mom, dad and the birthday cake I got for the party. You’ll notice the ‘Sweet 16 Birthday Princess’ ribbon around my mom…my brother and I made her wear it. My mom got a kick out of it. Mom, happy birthday!

Winter 2010

This winter has been incredible!  I’ve lived in Virginia for 20 years and I can’t remember any other winter where we’ve had this much snow and ice, although the winter of 1996 comes pretty close. This weekend’s snow storm has already produced record snow fall amounts in some parts of the Washington D.C. area and has crippled the region. I couldn’t let an opportunity like this pass by without taking some photographs, so I braved the frigid cold so I could capture Mother Nature at its best. Here are some of the photos I took.
